General Background
|
Vinod is currently an Associate
Director of the CPBIS (a Sloan Foundation Industry Studies Center
hosted by Georgia Tech in the Institute of Paper Science and
Technology building in Atlanta, Georgia), and a Professor of
Operations Management at the Georgia Tech College of Management at
Georgia Tech. His educational background includes a B.E. in
Mechanical Engineering, MBA, M.S. in Operations Research, and a
Ph.D. in Operations Management.
Prior to joining Georgia Tech in 1989, Vinod worked for three years
as a Senior Research Scientist at General Motors Research Labs and
one year as a management consultant in India. His teaching and
research interests include operations strategy, total quality
management, measuring manufacturing performance in high technology
firms, justification of new technologies, and designing
activity-based costing systems. His research has focused on the
impact of operating decisions on accounting and stock market based
performance measures, manufacturing strategy, and justification of
new technologies. In particular, his recent research has focused on
the bottom line impact of Total Quality Management Practices. His
research has been supported through grants from the US Department
of Labor, National Science Foundation, and American Society of
Quality. He has published extensively in academic journals. He is a
member of the editorial boards of various top journals in
Operations Management.
Vinod has served on the Board of Examiners of the Georgia
Oglethorpe Award. He is currently serving on the Board of Examiners
for The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. He is frequent
presenter at various academic and practitioner conferences and at
universities. He is very active in executive education, and
consults frequently with private and public companies. |
