The Sloan Foundation and the Committee for Industry Studies is
pleased to announce that a travel grant program is now being
offered to Industry Studies Affiliates and Center faculty. Like the
Industry Studies working paper series, workshops, and book
promotion initiatives, travel grants are designed to promote
awareness of the community's common interests and to support
scholarship. Travel grants are available in two categories:
- For travel to the University of another Affiliate or Sloan
Industry Center in order to present a seminar, or for purposes of
collaboration on research, teaching, or Center development. Support
of this kind will normally be funded at the level of economy air
fare and accommodation for 1-2 days. Incidental and per diem
expenses for meals, etc. would not be included.
- For organizing and conducting panels at professional society
meetings, where the proposed panel would be made up of several
Industry Studies Affiliates and Center faculty. Support for panels
normally includes economy air fare for all participating Industry
Studies Affiliates and Center faculty, and accommodations for 1-2
days. Incidental and per diem expenses for meals, etc. would not be
included.
If you are interested in applying for a travel grant, please
send a brief letter proposal (1-2 pages), describing the purpose of
the travel, names of all travelers, and the amount requested to the
Committee for Industry Studies at the following email address:
IndustryStudiesCommittee@sloan.org.
Requests for travel support that may fall outside of the
parameters described will be considered, if they contribute in a
substantial way to Center development or research and teaching in
Industry Studies. Awards will not be automatic: all requests will
be reviewed under Sloan Foundation guidelines, and funding
priorities will be established by the Committee based on the stated
criteria. If you have any questions, please contact Gail Pesyna (
pesyna@sloan.org ), Frank
Mayadas (mayadas@sloan.org),
or Frank Giarratani (frankg@pitt.edu).
