Dr. Guide is a consultant to the paper industry. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Nebraska in 1954, M.S. in Pulp and Paper Technology at the Institute of Paper Chemistry in 1956 and his Ph.D. in Pulp and Paper Technology- from the Institute of Paper Chemistry (now Inst. of Paper Sci. and Tech. at Georgia Tech) in 1958.

He worked for Rhinelander Paper Co. and Mead Corp., in 1954 and 1955. Then he pursued his career at Longview Fibre Co. from 1958 till 2003. He has also had many responsibilities within AF&PA, Tappi and Univ. of Washington- Pulp and Paper Foundation, during his years at Longview Fibre Co.
